2022 marks the 75th anniversary of Atleti adopting its current name, Club Atletico de Madrid. Since its founding in 1903, the club had two earlier names before this ultimate decision. This season's jerseys mark the occasion with references to key moments in team history: the home design mimics the first home jersey worn under the new name in 1947, and the away honors one worn during the first double-winning season.The "75 Years Honoring Your Name" celebration continues with the 2021/22 Atletico Madrid Third Jersey, inspired by the Vicente Calderon, Atleti's home ground for 50 years until 2017.
